Keep a short flower-visitor log
Choose a comfortable place at a distance from flowering plants. Record the date, approximate time, weather and which flowers you are watching.
Observe for a short, consistent period. Note visits and visible behavior without attempting to handle insects, disturb nests or block their flight paths.
Use descriptions or photographs for later identification. If you are unsure what you saw, leave the identification open rather than turning a guess into a record.
