Make repeated observations comparable

Return to the same viewing spot when practical. Keep the observation length similar and record major changes such as rain or flowers finishing their bloom.

Separate a count of visits from a count of individual insects; the same visitor may return more than once.

Compare notes across several days. A quiet session is still an observation and does not, by itself, explain a wider change in insect numbers.
